Connies' Palette

Conrad Schwiering  ( Connie) was one of the truly great Artist of the American West Landscape. He enjoyed painting Wildlife, and also spent a great deal of time documenting daily activity on the Ranches near his home . He traveled throughout the United States painting Seascapes, Domestic scenes of every stripe and left behind many Paintings from South of the Boarder. I had the pleasure of knowing this man as he was good friend with my Father. After his passing I had the opportunity to be present when they disposed of the contents in his Studio. While I got a lot of paint and other things that are now long gone; the thing I still enjoy owning the most is the pallet that he used for many years while painting in the Valley of Jackson Hole Wyoming. The paint on his pallet that you see in the picture is exactly as it was when I got it. Its a funny feeling you get when you slide your fingers across it as your getting ready to paint each morning. It makes you wonder how a person can get inspiration from an old piece of Tin that he probably hand made into a working tool
